Today, Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA), a senior member of the Homeland Security Committee, was named to the House-Senate Conference Committee to negotiate a final port security bill and on the House floor delivered the following statement urging that conference committee to adopt stronger measures for nuclear bomb scanning abroad and sealing containers before they depart for U.S. ports.
