WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Bi-Partisan Congressional Privacy Caucus will host a public forum this Wednesday on protecting the privacy of children and teens online.  Representatives Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) and Joe Barton (R-Texas) are Co-Chairmen of the Privacy Caucus, which has 25 members from both sides of the aisle. Stakeholders – including Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chairman Jon Leibowitz and Commissioner Julie Brill – will attend the forum and answer questions about industry practices.
 
The event is open to the public, Members of Congress, and congressional staff.

In May, Reps. Markey and Barton introduced the “Do Not Track Kids Act of 2011 ”, legislation that amends the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 to extend, enhance and update the provisions relating to the collection, use and disclosure of children’s personal information.  The legislation also establishes new protections for the personal information of children and teens.
