WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), the dean of the Massachusetts congressional delegation, issued the following statement after a devastating earthquake hit Haiti yesterday:
“Today my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Haiti after the devastating earthquake and I extend my condolences to all those who lost loved ones in this horrible tragedy,” said Markey.
“I will do everything in my power to help the Haitian people recover from this latest disaster and rebuild their homes and lives in the difficult days and weeks ahead.”
Rep. Markey has also set up a Massachusetts Haitian Support and Information page on Facebook where Haitians with ties to the Bay State can post supportive messages and share information to help families and friends in Haiti after the tragic earthquake. That page can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/pages/Massachusetts-Haitian-Earthquake...
Families of Americans living in Haiti are encouraged to contact the State Department at 888-407-4747.
