WASHINGTON D.C. – Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) issued the following statement today condemning the deadly terrorist attack in Jerusalem:
“Today’s terrorist attack at the bus stop in Jerusalem is part of a surge of violence after years of relative quiet. I am concerned about the recent escalation of attacks, which has included rocket attacks against Israeli civilians. Targeting innocent people, especially children, is heinous and without justification. My sympathies go out to the families of those who have lost and been injured today.
“Peace between Israel and Palestine will only result from a process of engagement and negotiation, not from bombs and terror. It is my hope that even during this ongoing security crisis, both sides will deepen their commitment to a negotiated agreement so that future generations of Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in peace.”
