Washington (February 9, 2017) – Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) released the following statement after the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled against the Department of Justice’s request to lift the restraining order that blocked President Donald Trump’s ban on refugees from seven majority-Muslim countries.
 
“Today, it is the rule of law, not the rule of Trump that has won. The Ninth Circuit’s decision is a victory for the Constitution and for the standing of America around the world. This so-called travel ban is a Muslim ban, and it is un-American and unconstitutional.”
