Boston (March 13, 2015) – Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Malden) released the following statement today celebrate the Allied War Veteran’s Council decision to welcome Boston Pride to march in the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade for the first time in the parade’s history.

 

“This year, as we all march together, we truly will all celebrate together. I want to commend the South Boston Allied War Veteran’s Council for their service to our country and dedication to our community. Today marks a remarkable moment as we come together to celebrate the contributions and service of our veterans and the diversity of the great city of Boston.  The Council’s decision to allow Boston Pride and OutVets to march in this year’s parade is an historic moment for the city, the Commonwealth, and the country.  For so many, this parade is an important time to reflect on our city, our accomplishments and our service, and I look forward to marching and celebrating with everyone.”
