Washington (June 25, 2015) – Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) issued the following statement after the United States Supreme Court ruled today that the Affordable Care Act subsidies can be used by residents of any state.
“I applaud the Court’s decision in King v. Burwell. With this ruling, now we can focus on providing health care, rather than litigating it. After withstanding two Supreme Court rulings, the Affordable Care Act is here to stay. It is an integral part of our nation’s fabric of laws, providing health care to millions of Americans, many for the first time. Today is a victory for all Americans and ensures that everyone will have access to the high-quality, affordable health care that is their right.”

#ACAWorks — There is simply no legal basis for taking away health coverage from millions of Americans. Period. #KingvBurwell
