Washington, D.C. — Today, Representatives Steve Israel (D-Long Island) and Edward J. Markey (D-Malden) announced the details of a friendly wager on Super Bowl XLVI between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. Rep. Markey has agreed to provide Rep. Israel with world-renowned New England clam chowder and lobster from Massachusetts legend Legal Seafood if the Giants win. Rep. Israel has agreed to provide Rep. Markey with the New York delicacies of matzoh ball soup, and a full deli spread of pastrami, corned beef, coleslaw, knishes and more from Pastrami N Friends in Commack, New York if the Patriots win.

The Vince Lombardi Trophy is coming home to Foxboro, and I plan to enjoy a pastrami sandwich at the ticker tape parade for the Patriots,” said Rep. Markey. “The Patriots’s fourth Super Bowl victory in ten years will be all the sweeter with some New York cheesecake on the side. Go Pats!

“I'll put some matzoh ball soup by Pastrami N Friends up against Legal Seafood’s New England clam chowder any day!” said Rep. Israel. “The Giants will beat the Patriots, and while I won’t make Rep. Markey eat crow, I will enjoy him serving me some soup.”
