Washington (October 9, 2013) Senator Edward J. Markey (DMass.) released the following statement after President Obama announced he will nominate Janet Yellen to be Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank. 

 

"Janet Yellen is eminently qualified to lead the Federal Reserve, and I applaud her nomination. Ms. Yellen's deep experience and proven leadership as the Fed's Vice Chair will provide the stability and continuity our country needs to help ensure our economy recovers fully. And as the first woman to lead the Federal Reserve in its 100year history, Janet Yellen is a trailblazer, and her nomination shows just how important it is that we continue to work to break the glass ceiling."
