Washington (April 1, 2014) – Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) released the following statement after news of the death of Barbara Gray. 

“Massachusetts has lost a political powerhouse and public service legend with the passing of Barbara Gray. Barbara Gray was one of Massachusetts’ ‘Founding Sisters’ along with Lois Pines and Doris Bunte. Barbara was a champion for such issues as equal pay, equal rights and environmental protection. She was an irrepressible fighter for social justice and women’s rights while I served alongside her in the statehouse, and the Commonwealth is a fairer, better place because of her tireless and fearless service. My thoughts are with her family and loved ones.”
