Washington (July 30, 2013) - Washington (July 30, 2013) - Senator Edward J. Markey (DMass.), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement today after President Obama met with negotiators leading the peace talks between Israel and the West Bank.
"As Israeli and Palestinian leaders begin the process of renewing negotiations, there is a long, challenging road ahead. However, I commend Secretary Kerry and the Obama administration for moving forward and bringing the two sides to the negotiating table. I believe the United States should continue to play an integral role in advancing a twostate solution between Israelis and Palestinians that results in both peoples living sidebyside in peace and security. I have strong confidence in special envoy Martin Indyk, and I am hopeful that progress can be made towards achieving a peaceful solution to this conflict."
