Medford, MA – Sebastian Zapata, a Malden Resident, spent his summer vacation interning in the Medford District Office of Congressman Edward J. Markey (D – Malden).  Sebastian graduated from Medford High School in 2009 and is now studying Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Sebastian spent his summer break working as a liaison between Rep. Markey’s constituents and the federal government.  As an intern, he advocated for those constituents who had matters pending before various federal agencies such as the Social Security Administration, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Health and Human Services.  Sebastian also researched and monitored legislation that had a direct impact on the residents of Malden and the entire Massachusetts 7th Congressional District.

??“I am so thankful for the outstanding service Sebastian provided to the people of Malden, Medford, and the constituents of the 7th District this summer,” Rep. Markey said.  “Educating college students about public policy and the processes of the federal government is a service that I am so proud to offer in my Medford District Office and I always welcome new applications.”

??College students, who would like to apply for internship in Rep. Markey’s Medford District Office, should send a cover and resume to Rocco DiRico.  If you have any questions, please contact 781-396-2900.
