WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Edward J. Markey sat down with YouTube CEO and co-founder Chad Hurley this week for a short interview. The two filmed the interview shortly after Mr. Hurley appeared before Rep. Markey’s House Telecommunications & the Internet Subcommittee for a hearing about the future of video.

Rep. Markey said, “The fact that today any consumer can be a programmer and get their video content up on the Net is changing the way consumers view the Web, their creative opportunities and how politicians run for President.”

During the hearing, Rep. Markey demonstrated how easy producing video clips for the Internet has become, by picking up a camcorder and shooting the first-ever video of a congressional hearing from the Chairman’s seat. That video is also posted on both YouTube and Rep. Markey’s web site
