PRESS CONF CALL: House Dems to Discuss GOP “Oil Above All” Bills, Response Strategy
Will Republicans Continue to Protect Oil Company Tax Breaks?
WASHINGTON – Tomorrow morning, House Democrats will hold a press conference call to discuss the Republican “Oil Above All” bills that will start consideration on the House floor this Thursday. The bills will do nothing to decrease prices at the pump, and will make oil drilling less safe.
House Democrats have called on Speaker Boehner to hold a vote on the “Exxon Earmark” following his statement that oil companies ought to “pay their fair share.” The subject has exposed serious fractures in the House Republican caucus, and a vote would put them on the record whether they support subsidies for companies that just reported tens of billions of dollars in profits in just the first quarter of 2011.
