WASHINGTON-Rep. Ed Markey (D-Malden) welcomed Cynthia Meade, Site Director of Stone Zoo & Vice President for Governmental Affairs, and Jack Hanna, Director Emeritus, Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, to the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) reception on Capitol Hill last night.  Rep. Markey has long been a supporter of the Stone Zoo located in Stoneham and was pleased to meet with Ms. Meade in Washington D.C to discuss the wildlife conservation efforts of AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums. Ms. Meade also discussed the Stone Zoo's efforts to assist in the rescue of wildlife affected by the BP-Transoean oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
