Washington, D.C. –Representative Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) issued the following statement on the passing of Ted Sorensen, advisor and speech writer to John F. Kennedy:

Travelling abroad with Ted Sorenson during the Cold War was like taking a trip with walking and talking history. Even 20 years after he had left the Kennedy administration, foreign leaders we visited were as rapt and respectful as if he still had the ear of the President himself. He was a man of enormous intellect, patriotism and purpose, and his legacy will surely reflect that.”
