Washington (September 18, 2024) - Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, today applauded the passage of the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act through the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

“With hurricane season in full swing, it has never been more important to pass the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act and ensure that this life-saving communication tool remains in vehicles,” said Senator Markey. “I applaud the Energy and Commerce Committee for its overwhelming vote to advance this essential bill and look forward to working with our House and Senate colleagues to enact this bipartisan, public safety legislation into law.”

In April, Senators Markey and Cruz announced that their AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act had support from 60 members of the Senate, giving it a filibuster-proof supermajority. In July 2023, Senators Markey and Cruz celebrated the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee’s passage of the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act by a voice vote.
