Washington (December 20, 2013) – Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), a member of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, today applauded the decision by Time Warner Cable to reverse its decision and continue to carry New England Cable News (NECN) in the Berkshires. Time Warner Cable had previously announced it would end carriage of NECN in the Berkshires by the end of December.
“Christmas has come early for the Berkshires with Time Warner’s decision to continue carrying NECN in its channel lineup,” said Senator Markey. “NECN is a valuable source of information for Massachusetts and New England news and keeps the western part of the Commonwealth connected to the larger region. I commend Time Warner for listening to its customers and reversing its decision.”
Last week, Senators Markey, Warren and Rep. Neal wrote to Time Warner Cable urging it to keep NECN in its service in the Berkshires region of Massachusetts.
