Washington (June 26, 2019) – Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) released the following statement after voting against H.R.3401, House Border Supplemental package.

“The Trump administration’s inhumane and hateful assault on immigrants must stop,” said Senator Markey. “But we are not going to stop it by giving more money to ICE and Customs and Border Protection to carry out the Trump administration’s criminally anti-immigrant agenda of building and deploying a deportation force, separating families at the border, and detaining immigrant children in unsafe and unsanitary conditions. The longer we continue to allow President Trump to use immigrants as hostages and the more we increase funding for the agencies that enable him to implement his repugnant and anti-American agenda, the longer his cruel policies will continue. We must take a stand and say no more.”
