Washington (March 22, 2020) – Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) released the following statement upon the passing of Larry Rasky, who served as then-Rep. Markey’s communications director in the 1980’s.

“Larry Rasky helped craft the stories and campaigns for some of the great leaders and causes of our time. From Joe Biden, to Jimmy Carter, to John Kerry, to the Boston Red Sox, to Catholic Charities and more, Larry Rasky masterminded messaging and campaigns with skill, with loyalty, and with enormous success. His wisdom was unquestioned, his judgment unrivalled, and his performance under pressure unequaled. If you had a complex problem and had only one call to make, you made it to Larry Rasky. His ability to analyze an issue, simplify it, and provide a solution was unmatched.

“Through his philanthropy with the Anti-Defamation League and Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action, Larry exemplified the spirit of the Jewish concept of Tzedakah. His generosity knew no bounds. His kindness was without measure. And his commitment to social justice will endure well beyond his last day. He lived a life of service to his country, the Commonwealth, his faith, and his family.

“My heart goes out to Larry’s wife Carolyn, their son Will, and the entire Rasky family. There will never be another great like Larry Rasky. We will carry him in our memories forever.”
