Washington (December 4, 2020) –
Senators Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), and
Congressmen Bill Keating (MA-09) and Joseph P. Kennedy III (MA-04) sent letters
today to Comcast Corporation and Hearst Television expressing concerns about
reports that starting on December 22, 2020 Comcast subscribers in Bristol
County will no longer be able to view WCVB, the Boston ABC affiliate owned by
Hearst.
“Particularly during the ongoing
COVID-19 pandemic, loss of access to this station would be harmful to Bristol
County viewers who rely on state-specific announcements to stay healthy and
safe,” write the Massachusetts lawmakers.
“Updates and recommendations from the State House must reach every corner of
the Commonwealth, as communities across Massachusetts face enormous public
health and economic challenges.”

Senators Markey and Warren
previously worked with Chairman Richard A. Neal (MA-01) on a
successful
effort to preserve Charter Cable subscribers’ access to WWLP, the
Springfield Massachusetts NBC station, in Berkshire County.
