Washington (June 21, 2024) — Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) and Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.)today introduced the Dynamic Glass 2.0 Actto extendthe investment tax credit for electrochromic glass. Electrochromic glass is specialized glass that uses electricity to tint to heat or cool a building, reducing energy use and costs. Senators Markey and Wicker reintroduced the Dynamic Glass Act in 2021 which made electrochromic glass eligible for the federal investment tax credit. The tax incentive was latersecured in section 48 of the Internal Revenue Code in 2022.

“Our clean energy future requires us to use every tool in the box to reduce energy use and costs. Electrochromic glass makes it possible to efficiently heat and cool homes, buildings, and even airports by adjusting the tint of the windows. The Dynamic Glass 2.0 Act would continue supporting a clean energy technology that reduces emissions and creates jobs,” said Senator Markey

“Dynamic glass would help lower energy bills for businesses and homeowners, but many Americans cannot afford the upfront cost of this technology. This legislation provides a tax credit to make access to this specialized glass easier and creates many manufacturing jobs across the country, including in Mississippi,” Senator Wicker said (R-Miss.).
