Washington, DC - In a letter sent today to the President and CEO of JetBlue, United States Senators Elizabeth Warren and Edward J. Markey, along with Congressmen Michael E. Capuano and Stephen F. Lynch, asked the company to consider the Milton Board of Selectmen's request that the airline retrofit its pre-2014 Airbus A320 series aircraft by installing vortex generators, which are designed to significantly reduce airplane noise. This letter follows recent increased airplane traffic, noise, and pollution over the Town of Milton and neighboring communities, which can negatively affect people's health.

The congressional delegation members wrote, "Several airlines with operations out of Logan International Airport...have voluntarily retrofitted, or have developed plans to retrofit, their series A320 aircraft with vortex generators...We ask JetBlue to thoroughly evaluate the Milton Board of Selectmen‘s request to install vortex generators on your pre-2014 Airbus A320 series aircraft.  We know that you certainly share in our deep commitment to supporting the health and quality-of-life of our Massachusetts communities."

Last month, Warren, Markey, Capuano and Lynch wrote to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to request that the agency increase community participation in its process to address the airplane-related noise problems affecting communities near Logan International Airport.
