Markey Praises Energy and Commerce Climate White Paper


WASHINGTON (October 3, 2007) – Chairman Edward J. Markey of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming praised the release today of a "white paper" by the Energy and Commerce Committee on future global warming legislation.

 
Below is the statement of Chairman Markey:

“I commend Chairman Dingell and Representative Boucher for moving the ball forward towards an economy-wide, cap-and-trade system for cutting global warming emissions.

“We need to legislate soon and we need to legislate wisely. The planet is in peril, and time is of the essence. I look forward to working with Chairmen Dingell and Boucher on this critical legislative effort."
