State Leadership Towards a Low-Carbon Energy Future
New York Governor Eliot Spitzer and Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano will testify before Chairman Edward J. Markey and the other members of the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming on what their states are doing to cut global warming emissions and promote increased use of clean renewable energy. Congress is currently considering an energy bill that would promote cleaner energy and reduce heat-trapping emissions.
Immediately following the hearing, Environment America will recognize 21 states for their leadership to increase renewable energy, save energy and require more clean and efficient cars. The awards are based on a new report by Environment America- a national federation of state environment groups-- identifying policies to promote clean energy that can provide a model for the entire nation.
